Blackpool Airport Guide

September 11, 2008

Blackpool airport is situated within the popular English town of Blackpool on the North West coast of England.  The airport makes an ideal base for those holidaying in the party town or alternatively for travellers who are keen on exploring the nearby Lake District and the city of Manchester which is less than 1 hours drive from Blackpool.

The airport itself is not hugely large as it mostly deals with local commercial planes however the airport does have 4 airlines servicing the airport which fly to a number of popular destinations within the UK and abroad.  Transportation links to the airport are fantastic and due to the location of the airport just on the outskirts on the town centre and just off the main carriageway into Blackpool it is certainly easily accessible.  Coach services run frequently from Blackpool town centre out to the airport and back again and with a taxi rank just outside the airport it has never been easier to get to and from Blackpool Airport.  When arriving by the car the main drop off and pick up point is situated directly in front of the airport and with the long and short stay car parks only a short distance away it really is all on your doorstep.  It is advisable however to book the short or long stay car park in advance to avoid disappointment.

Blackpool airport has one main terminal which provides a range of facilities for your enjoyment during your time at the airport.  Perfume, alcohol and cigarettes are available to buy from the Duty Free area at tax free prices within the departure lounge or if you still have not changed your currency yet you can do this at the airports Bureau de Change where you can change your £’s into Euros or whichever currency you prefer.   For those looking to relax with a chilled glass of wine or two before your flight departs then head to the airports executive lounge where you can soak up the surroundings whilst enjoying a nice meal and company.  The executive lounge also provides PC access points, complimentary refreshments and Sky TV.  The airport also has a bar and buffet area on the main concourse within the terminal building for those who do not wish to go to the executive lounge.  Car hire and a tourist information desk is also at your disposal during your time at Blackpool Airport.

Overall it is fair to say that Blackpool airport will provide the traveller with a comfortable base during their stay at the airport and with the envious location of the airport being near to some of England’s most visited and popular tourist destinations it really is growing from strength to strength.
